Six Sigma Black Belt Certification

A Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) Certified Six Sigma Black Belt is an individual who possesses a thorough understanding of the entire Six Sigma Body of Knowledge. In addition, this individual has a thorough comprehension of both Six Sigma philosophies and principles (including supporting systems and tools). The Black Belt Certification designation also reflects an understanding of team leadership, team dynamics, and the ability to successfully assign team members with roles and responsibilities. Lastly, this individual demonstrates a high-level understanding of the DMAIC model in accordance with the Six Sigma principles, basic knowledge of lean enterprise concepts, and skills to quickly identify “non-value-added” activities.


Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

A Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) Certified Six Sigma Green Belt is an individual who possesses a thorough understanding of enhanced problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) model. The Green Belt Certification designation also reflects the knowledge by the individual to serve as a trained team member within his or her function-specific area of the organization. This focus allows the Green Belt to work on small, carefully defined Six Sigma projects, requiring less than a Black Belt’s full-time commitment to Six Sigma throughout the organization.


Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification

A Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) Certified Six Sigma Yellow Belt is an individual who has attained a basic knowledge of Six Sigma, but does not lead projects on their own. They are often responsible for the development of process maps to support Six Sigma projects. A Yellow Belt participates as a core team member or subject matter expert (SME) on a project or projects. In addition, Yellow Belts may often be responsible for running smaller process improvement projects using the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) methodology. PDCA, often referred to as the Deming Wheel, which enables Yellow Belts to identify processes that could benefit from improvement. These smaller Yellow Belt projects often get escalated to the Green Belt or Black Belt level, where a DMAIC methodology is used to maximize cost savings utilizing Statistical Process Control.
